Transfer of Credits

Matn U's transfer of credits policy attempts to integrate, as fully as possible, an applicant's previous course work with the normal degree sequences at Matn U.

In general, transfer credits may be awarded for academically-based courses taken at an accredited institution, passed with a grade of B or higher, and are similar in content and classroom meeting hours to the curriculum of Matn U. Credits transferred from other institutions become a part of the student's official record, but grades will not be placed on the transcript nor used in determining the student's cumulative Grade Point Average.

The Office of the Registrar examines a student's transcripts and sends an evaluation of transferable credits approximately three weeks after the letter of admission date. Applicants who wish an approximate determination of which courses will transfer should compare the course description of their present university with that of Matn U's.

Leave of Absence

Requesting a Leave: Students may request leaves of absences – a temporary interruption of their studies – for academic, personal, health, or financial reasons. Some students take time off to put their course work into perspective. Others go on leave to pursue a special job or career opportunity. A few students request a leave of absence for medical reasons.

Any currently enrolled student in good standing and with no disciplinary record is eligible to take a leave of absence. Students may request leaves for one semester, with longer extensions granted in special circumstances. To make such a request, you must complete a Leave of Absence Form. We recommend that you submit your request by the end of the last day of classes of the semester preceding the semester for which you are requesting a leave. Students in good standing who are granted a leave of absence cannot earn credit for courses given by another institution.

Returning from Leave: To return from an academic or personal leave of absence, you must submit your request in writing to the office of the registrar prior to the start of the registration period for the current semester.
